Description

I keep returning to the mineral lattice, to its impossible promise of containment. This one—Membrane Faultline—it costs something I can’t ballast. The kiln’s heat negotiates with the bottle glass, drawing capillaries and fractures, refusing to resolve. Some seams weep, some hold, all remember the salt. My hand is the tide’s proxy, pressing glass into clay, coaxing a temporary armistice. And yet—there is always a seep. Light pries open what I cannot seal. The harbor grid becomes diaphanous; the boundary never absolute. As the glaze pools and the silver oxidizes, the work accrues a tension—engineered, mineral, and hydraulic. Not memory, but a mapped uncertainty: every mineral gloss is a surface harboring undertow. I trace these breaches because the city lives in them. The rest—silent, saline, unresolved—remains beneath, in the capillaries.
