Containment begins with a wound. The armature is a harbor’s rib—already breached, already counting what it cannot hold. Salt rationed to the last handful—absence made visible as a contour, a drift marking loss. Glass finds its shape not in intention, but in the places denied it; ceramic presses blindly into voids left by steel’s collapse, surface tension at war with vacancy. Fog on the window refracts whatever’s left—brine shimmer, pigment bleeding at the margin, my own reticence pooled in seams. The grid is never neutral; it inherits fracture and scarcity. I do not dwell on the origin, only the residue. Each mineral deposit, each thumbprint, is the record of a system eroding—quiet, capillary. The kiln’s silence gnaws, but this is work engineered for seepage, not arrival. The harbor is always a harboring: salt, structure, the mapped risk of being unfilled.
